Don't give out bank details in lottery scam

FRAUDSTERS are targeting people in Bolton with fake lottery scams.
Trading Standards officers have received a string of complaints about letters claiming to be from Spain and Canada demanding
bank details and cash deposits in return for big money prizes.
It is feared people in the town may have been duped into handing over cash or having their accounts drained.

Glen Phoenix, Bolton Trading Standards officer, said: "We've seen a huge rise in the number of these letters being sent to
people in Bolton in recent weeks, and believe several hundred may have been sent out. Our advice is to put them in the bin."
One of the letters, claiming to be from a firm called Global Escrow Services based in Toronto, Canada, asks for a £20 handling
fee and credit card details in order to claim a £5,000 prize.
A second letter, claiming to be from Madrid-based International Lotto Commission, said the recipient had won 715,810 Euros
about £488,000 on the Euro Millions lottery.
